Do you and your friends speak in movie quotes? Do you trade Spongebob memes back and forth with your loved ones? Do you have to rely on the ”Are You Still Watching?” message to let you know it’s time to bathe and stop procrastinating? If you answered yes to any (or all) of these questions, come hang out with us every other week! Media can play a huge role in shaping who we are. Sometimes it makes us idolize Jeff Goldblum as a sex symbol. Sometimes a lack of representation makes you feel invisible. As hosts, siblings Carie and Ross will analyze this phenomenon by breaking down a favorite movie or television show and how the sights, sounds, and messages of media have followed our generation throughout our lives. So pour your favorite beverage, relax, and explore how our shared experiences with movies and television messed us up as a generation. There will be laughter, there will be sadness, and THERE WILL BE discussions about homosexual subtext in children’s animation. Theme Song by Tune Tank: https://tunetank.com/tracks/5611-vacation

WHO'S READY TO SEE I2I??? This week, Kicking & Streaming is unpacking one of Carie's long-time favorites A Goofy Movie (1995). A lighthearted, but deeper tale about Goofy's ability to raise a teenager. And yeah we get it, there will be cringe, but there will also be a lot of heart, and to Ross's chagrin, a lot of musical numbers. The siblings reflect on their own teenage experiences and how this move can actually bridge some generational divides. Not to mention there are animatronic possum puppets, animated corpses, and BIGFOOT HIMSELF.

The Little Mermaid or: How Disney Got Her Groove Back
Monday May 19, 2025
Monday May 19, 2025
This week, lil onions, we're kicking off extended mainfeed coverage of Disney films from childhood, or what is more specifically known as the Disney Renaissance. The best place to start is at the beginning with 1989's The Little Mermaid! Carie manages to keep the big baby tears back as they unravel the story of Princess Ariel of Atlantic, a mermaid who wants to be part of the human world. After trading her voice to a sea witch to get the guy, she'll have to work fast to ensure she's not reduced to haunted seaweed as a pawn in some beef between her father and auntie. Carie describes an actual physiological relationship with the music and lyrics of Alan Menken and Howard Ashman, and Ross recalls a very specific affinity for a King Triton figurine.

No taglines, no jokes, no laughing matter this week, lil onions. Today we are talking about a very important documentary, One Survivor Remembers, an HBO documentary from 1995 about the harrowing story of Gerda Weissmann, who survived the scourge of Nazi Germany during what were supposed to be the best years of her young life.
While this is normally a comedy podcast, this is a very serious subject, and we encourage you this week to spend some time clicking through the links provided below about the Holocaust, about fascism, and about what you can do as a private citizen to combat the rise of abject evil.

Easy A or: How I Fell in Love with Emma Stone
Wednesday Apr 23, 2025
Wednesday Apr 23, 2025
This week, we're unpacking a favorite recent classic, Easy A (2010), the horrifically awkward albeit incredibly hilarious tale in which Emma Stone lies to her entire school about trading coitus for gift cards. Carie is big heated about the curse that is "best friend" Rhiannon. Ros has a lot of feelings about Olive's supportive parents. There's some truly unforgettable cringe, Lisa Kudrow unfortunately, and for some goddamn reason, The Scarlet Letter again.

Speak or: How I Learned the Importance of Art Therapy

This one's heavy, y'all. Big trigger warning for SA and the general dread of your freshman year. This week, the siblings unpack the film adaptation of Laurie Halse Anderson's award winning YA novel, Speak (2004). Kristen Stewart's breakout role has both siblings stunned and weeping, and has Carie feeling nostalgic for her teens. Ross is in love with the symbolism of the tree throughout the film, and praises the execution of the adaptation for its visceral realism.

Y'all. we were very unprepared for this. We might have filed this under women's wrongs. BT.U We are following the story of a young woman who was demonically transposed by gross failures of nasty young men, and as a result fed on the blood of young boys. Diablo Cody will always have our hearts. The dialogue in this movie is god tier. The meme potential is god tier. We're so sad we haven't had this movie in our lives. But this is one of those cases where we all have to buckle in and be prepared for everything that is on the way down....

Thelma & Louise or: The Original Ride or Die Duo
Monday Mar 10, 2025
Monday Mar 10, 2025
Happy 2025, Y'ALL. We're opening mainfeed this year with Thelma & Louise (1991). We're following two women who go on a fishing trip to piss off their men, and run afoul of men in general. Carie is only just now experiencing the last 2/3 of the movie for the first time. Ross experiences big feelings for Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis. And you know the tissues come out in the end. It's nice to know sometimes these days when a movie is sequel-PROOFED.

Crack open a Duff beer, have a seat on the couch, and join us for a deep dive into the pilot episode of The Simpsons. Some of the very best in voice acting in your earbuds today, with the siblings wondering if the entire voice cast has signed a life-long binding contract with Fox. Carie is gagged by how different the animation is, Ross is eternally perplexed by the physics of Marge Simpson's hair, and the siblings recall some of their favorite bits from the classic show.

Monday Dec 16, 2024
Who's ready to get ZANY? This week, the siblings are unpacking a direct-to-video classic, Wakko's Wish (1999). Carie is having all of the dust blown off of her childhood shelf, Ross is preoccupied with the exact nature of the Warner siblings' taxonomy, and the siblings are reminded by the Wheel of Morality to CHEER UP AND NEVER GIVE UP HOPE...

We're blowing dust off our brains this week, lil onions! Today we're revisiting a Sanrio compilation of Christmas-themed cartoons that was regular viewing in childhood. The siblings do NOT act their age as they break down Hello Kitty and Santa's Missing Hat, Keroppi and the Christmas Eve Gift, and an adorably short cartoon about a baby reindeer who wants nothing more than to pull Santa's sleigh on Christmas Eve. Ross is bopping to the tunes while Carie gets irrationally emotional about a tiny Christmas star who is too smol to light the way for Santa and his reindeer.
